When you think of Yulin, your mind likely conjures painful images. For years, the city has been the epicenter of the brutal dog meat trade and home to the horrifying annual dog meat “festival.” But amidst this darkness, there is a surprising beacon of hope: a growing vegan movement.

Yes, Yulin has not one, but six vegan restaurants. And these aren’t just any eateries—they are hubs of compassion and change.

Take Yan Jie, for example. Since 2016, Yan Jie has been operating a successful vegan restaurant in Yulin. This past June, on the day of the dog meat “festival,” she collaborated with the Duo Duo Project to sponsor free vegan lunches for the community. The response? Overwhelming. So many people came to enjoy her delicious vegan dishes that her arms were sore from cooking by the end of the day.

Vegan food. In demand. In Yulin. Let that sink in.

It’s stories like these that inspire our fight to end the dog and cat meat trade. For nearly 12 years, your unwavering support has fueled this vision of lasting change in China. Together, we are not only exposing cruelty but fostering a culture that values compassion and ethical choices.

Thank you for being part of this life-saving movement! We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and we are incredibly grateful for your support. Thank you for taking this journey with us. With your continued help, we can ensure that even more animals are saved from a life of suffering.

Join us. Together, we can build a kinder world—starting right in the heart of Yulin.
