Serena Gandhi, Youth Team Leader

At Duo Duo Project, progress is powered by people who choose compassion. Few embody that spirit more fully than Serena Gandhi. For the past six years, Serena has been a driving force behind our Duo Duo Pack Youth Team. She has helped inspire a new generation to take action for animals.

Serena’s impact can be felt across so many of our efforts. From supporting outreach campaigns to helping raise critical funds, she has consistently shown up with heart and determination. Many in our community will remember her as a co-host of our 10th Anniversary Gala, where her warmth and confidence helped bring our mission to life for supporters. Her commitment and leadership also earned her the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, an honor reserved for young leaders creating lasting change in their communities.

But what makes Serena especially remarkable is how she blends compassion with innovation.

An accomplished robotics competitor, Serena is now channeling her technical skills into something deeply meaningful: designing and building custom wheelchairs for dogs with mobility challenges. Using 3D printing and simple materials like PVC pipes, she is creating adaptable solutions that give animals a second chance at movement, comfort, and joy. These wheelchairs are already making a difference in shelters in China, proof that creativity, when guided by empathy, can transform lives.

And Serena’s journey is just beginning.

She has been accepted into the Mechanical Engineering program at MIT, an incredible achievement and a testament to her talent, discipline, and vision. We couldn’t be prouder to see her take this next step, and we are honored that she continues to be part of the Duo Duo Pack.

Serena represents what is possible when young people are given the opportunity to lead, create, and make a difference. She didn’t wait for someone else to solve problems; she became part of the solution. And you can, too.
