Change begins with education and outreach. Thanks to the support of our generous donors, Duo Duo Project has been able to allocate most of our resources over the past 13 years to youth education and community outreach events. Each event allows us to transform young hearts and minds, helping children in cities like Yulin — where the infamous Dog Meat “Festival” is held — to think of dogs and cats as family, not food.
You help plant the seeds of compassion.
Our team in China asked us to share this moving story with you. A young boy recently shared a video on Chinese social media. In it, he invited his friends over to proudly present something he built himself, a small shelter for stray cats in his backyard. As his friends gather around, he explains why he did it. He talks about caring for animals. He talks about responsibility. And most importantly, he talks about love.

There is something profoundly moving about seeing a child articulate a truth that many adults still struggle to embrace fully: caring for animals is everyone’s responsibility.

At Duo Duo Project, stories like this fuel our hope. They offer a glimpse into a future shaped not by cruelty or indifference, but by empathy. Once again, the younger generation in China is leading the way, showing that compassion for animals is not a foreign concept. It is universal. It is innate.
All of us at Duo Duo Project believe that we can end the dog and cat meat trade in our lifetimes. Think of this young boy helping cats in need. Think of his friends who are supporting his efforts. Think of the millions of choices people make every day that challenge harmful traditions and replace them with compassionate actions.

This story reminds us why we do this work, even when the challenges feel overwhelming. By inspiring compassion in the next generation, we are fostering a shift in attitudes that will pave the way for a future without the suffering of dogs and cats in the meat trade. With your support, we will continue to nurture kindness in the young generation.
Together, we will end the dog and cat meat trade.
